Waterproofing for Commercial Sites That Can’t Afford to Fail
Professional delivery that meets your spec every time
Applications Across the Commercial Sector
When you’re delivering a commercial build, you can’t afford waterproofing problems. APP works with main contractors, developers, architects and engineers to deliver watertight systems that meet spec, meet programme and meet warranty.
We take on the design risk, we install it ourselves, and we back it with insurance. No delays. No finger-pointing. No corners cut.
Whether it’s a new-build development or an existing commercial structure, APP has the expertise to deliver compliant waterproofing to any site.
We’re equipped to take on:
- Basements and underground structures
- Car parks and access areas
- Plant rooms, utility zones, lift pits
- Sensitive environments like server rooms and data centres
- Mixed-use, retail, industrial or public buildings
Our role is to provide protection — not just from water, but from risk, disruption and uncertainty.

The Systems We Use (and Why It Matters)
In commercial developments, a single waterproofing method is rarely sufficient. Warranty providers such as NHBC, Premier Guarantee and LABC typically require a combined or dual-system strategy to satisfy technical standards including NHBC Chapter 5.4. At APP, we design integrated solutions that combine appropriate BS 8102 system types to meet these requirements, ensure long-term performance, and mitigate the risk of non-compliance or future remedial liability.
External Systems
Type A
External membranes or coatings applied to prevent water entering the structure. Type A creates a physical barrier, typically used on retaining walls and floor slabs. Best suited where full access to the outer face is available during the build.
Integral Protection
Type B
Relies on the structure itself being watertight, using water-resisting concrete and detailed joint design. Most effective when included early in the design and commonly used in concrete-frame commercial builds.
Drained Protection
Type C
Manages rather than blocks water. Cavity drain membranes are installed internally to direct water to a sump and pump or gravity outlet. Ideal for basements, plant rooms or areas needing dry internal conditions.
