Why Waterproofing Matters in New Builds

Waterproofing for new builds isn’t just a box to tick, it’s about getting it right first time, with no corners cut and no nasty surprises years down the line. At APP, we design, install and guarantee waterproofing systems that meet all current standards. One point of responsibility. No finger-pointing. Just a job done properly.

BS 8102:2022 treats all below-ground structures as at risk of water ingress. In short, waterproofing isn’t optional. It’s a design requirement.

Fail to specify and install it properly, and you risk:

  • Non-compliance with warranty providers
  • Moisture ingress and associated damage
  • Disruption and costly remedial work

Integrating the right system early on means fewer site delays, no compliance headaches and long-term protection built into the structure.

Specialist Waterproofing for New Builds

In most new build projects, especially where warranty providers like NHBC or Premier Guarantee are involved, it’s not enough to rely on just one method. These providers now typically require a combined or ‘dual’ system approach to meet Chapter 5.4 of NHBC standards and similar clauses in Premier’s requirements. That means we often design systems that blend two types of waterproofing, ensuring compliance from the outset and reducing the risk of water ingress or warranty issues later down the line.

Barrier Systems

Type A

Tanking solutions applied to walls and floors to block water. Great for external walls with accessible working space.

Integral Systems

Type B

Using waterproof concrete as part of the structure itself. Most effective when specified from the start.

Drained Cavity Systems

Type C

Membranes fitted internally with sump and pump. The go-to for habitable basements and serviceable protection.

What we do

We Design, Install & Guarantee Our Work

We’re not just installers. We carry full design responsibility and we’re fully insured for both. That’s critical. Because in this sector, it’s the gaps between designer, installer and warranty provider that usually lead to failure. You won’t get passed from one party to another. We take the job on, and we stand by it.

We design waterproofing strategies in-house
We coordinate with your architect, engineer or main contractor
We install every system with our own teams
We offer insurance-backed guarantees on everything we do
